Yemen - Hayma Gold
Yemen - Hayma, Kharijiya
Some coffees are grown. This one is inherited. Hayma Gold comes from the mountain village of Hayma Kharijiya in Yemen's Sana'a region, where coffee has grown for more than 600 years — and the cherries still ripen slowly at 1,800 to 2,000 metres in some of the driest coffee country on earth. They're handpicked and sun-dried whole, the natural way Yemen has done it for centuries. What makes it truly rare is in the DNA: it's a Yemenia, a mother population of Arabica found nowhere else on the planet and only identified in 2020. That ancient lineage gives it a deep, wild, layered cup — rich with dried fruit and a winey, spiced complexity. This is the bean that once shipped from the old port of Mocha, the harbour that gave the word its name. Our rarest and most exceptional coffee — reach for a slow pour-over and let it unfold. History in a cup, true to where it began.
